I am so excited! My home buying experience has come to an end and I just closed on my home and have the keys! The moving van is packed and my friends are standing by to help me unload everything! Old home for sale, new home for me! Homes for sale Hardin County
Fast forward…a friend calls me over and says she noticed some dust under the kitchen sink that I should look at. I crouch down, look under and to my horror I realize I must have some sort of insect problem. Carpenter ants! I’m a little bummed but continue to unpack boxes. Luckily, we got everything off of the truck and in the house because it starts to rain! As I carry my T.V. upstairs, I notice the carpet is wet! The roof was leaking from all the rain that was coming down! When I looked at the house it was sunny, so I didn’t even think the roof could possibly leak.
At this time, I am starting to feel a little sick because 2 major issues have surfaced and I haven’t even been my new home for 6 hours. The next morning I plug my microwave in and the outlet sparks, blowing the circuit. At this point, I can feel my heart rate rising and I am about to have a nervous breakdown. I feel sweat dripping off of my forehead and suddenly… I wake up! It was a nightmare! Phew, none of this happened! Unfortunately, this nightmare has been a reality for many home buyers. And even worse, those who have homes for sale are now caught between their new, faulty home and paying a mortgage on their other home.
Having a home inspection can save a home buyer a lot of money and heartache. In fact, it’s so important that an offer can be contingent on a passing inspection. Electrical, roof & shingles, water heater, termite, radon and so many other problems can be discovered and taken care of before you close on your new home. If they are too complicated or severe, you can back out of the deal. A home inspection is advised to save you from living a nightmare like the one I dreamt!
